- Zigmantas Kiaupa (born in 1942), Ph. D., senior researcher, the Institute for Lithuanian History, Vilnius, associate professor, the Department of History, Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas. Investigates the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, especially the towns and their inhabitants' history. Together with J�rat� Kiaupien� and Albinas Kuncevi�ius wrote the book �The History of Lithuania before 1795� (1st Lithuanian edition 1995, Vilnius; English edition 2000, Vilnius). Member of Lithuanian Heraldry Commission, member of the State Monument Preservation Commission of the Republic of Lithuania. This is the second, revised edition of Zigmantas Kiaupa's �The History of Lithuania� with maps and a chronology
