- This 1972 Lithuanian classic heroic/action/romantic mini-series (4 parts, about 35 minutes each) tells the story of the notorious robber Tadas Blinda, who gained the moniker "Leveller of the World". However, the real story (that goes back to 19th century) about this man is not so romantic. He was simply a criminal, eventually killed by the people. The film was produced during the soviet era, when all movies (or any form of art in general) had to adhere to the ideals of the Communist Party. Despite the compulsory political undertones, the series offers really great directing (Balys Bratkauskas) and acting (V.Tomkus, etc.), engrossing action scenes and pleasant nature shots. An alltogether impressive film for the times.
