- This film by director and cameraman Arvydas Barysas documents how Lithuanians traditionally celebrated the four seasons of the year. It presents a unique view of a Lithuanian village - how the life and work of its people are tightly interwoven with traditions, customs and rituals. The 45 minute film begins with autumn, as the verdant nature fades, but sadness is not felt, for the wheel of life spins in its unchanging rhythm, drawing us in as well. So we see the villagers toiling in autumn and winter, spring and summer; celebrating great religious, as well as more ancient, rites that have taken their shape throughout centuries: All Souls' Day, Mardigras, St. John's Day and other traditional-ritualistic events...completely unscripted.
Characteristic of this film is its ethnic aspect and the poetical presentation of the way of life and customs of Lithuanian village people. The images are powerful; they provide tranquility and induce good feelings and hope...
