This CD contains a selection of songs from the 5th volume of the Anthology of Latvian Choral Music. Composed 1991-2000, these songs reflect the readiness of Latvian composers to embrace the innovative developments in choral writings introduced in the second half of the 20th century, without adopting the avant-garde radicalism characteristic of the 1960s. In addition, the postmodern era's liberal attitude towards various styles and aesthetics allowed the romantic world-view, always an integral part of Latvian music, to be freely expressed in both complicated works and also in sincere and unpretentious ones.
