- Markas Zingeris (b. 1947 in Prienai) is a journalist, prose writer, poet, playwright and translator. He currently is director of the Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum. Zingeris is a member of the Lithuanian Writers’ Association and the Lithuanian PEN Center. His first poetry book A House from Cedar was published in 1984. M. Zingeris has been translating books from the English and Russian languages. His work has been translated into the German, French, English, Danish, Russian, Yiddish, Finnish, Polish and Hungarian languages.
His book An Evening from the Childhood (1989) won the title of the best new author of 1990, Will-o’-the-wisp (2000) was found the best book of the year 2000.
The writer lives and works in Vilnius.
