- Thomas Remeikis, born in Lithuania in 1934, immigrated to the United States after the war. He attended the University of Illinois, receiving BA, MA and PhD in Political Science. His doctoral dissertation dealt with the history and politics of the Communist Party of Lithuania. He taught Political Science at St. Joseph College, Hammond, Indianna and currently is Professor Emeritus. He holds an honorary degree from the University of Vilnius, Lithuania.
Among numerous writings, the following should be mentioned: Opposition to Soviet Rule in Lithuania, 1945–1980 (Chicago, 1980); Lithuania Under German Occupation 1941–1945 (Vilnius, 2005); nine annual reports on Violations of Human Rights in Soviet Occupied Lithuania, 1977–1981. In the post-Soviet period he was instrumental in publishing Politologija, a journal of the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, University of Vilnius.
